As a current international student ICE’s policy on preventing international stidents taking online classes during a pandemic from staying in the US infuriates and saddens me.
This move not only affects the students and their families who have sacrificed so much to get here, but also the college towns and universities themselves who rely on the money international students bring in, since many do not get the same financial aid opportunities Americans do. In the end it affects the economy as a whole and diversity of this country, that once was proud to call itself a “melting pot”.
What about students who don’t have access to certain technologies back home? What about those in completely different time zones? Are they suppose to wake up in the middle of the night to receive their education? What about those from countries where airports remain closed or are not accepting incoming flights from the US? And let’s not forget that most schools are not even planning on reducing tuition costs for online classes.
Students putting their health at risk in order to keep their status was not part of the plan they worked on for many years to pursue their dreams, better opportunities, etc. And it still shouldn’t be, specially in the middle of a pandemic.
Maybe we can get @taylorswift to spread the word and gather signatures. I know many of us Swifties are international students living in the US and can possibly be affected by this.

It took several hours in different days but since we are still in quarantine, I decided to finally fill up my board. I only had a few polaroids on it and really didn’t know what to do about all that space! I have practically no decorations in my room at the moment (I made a huge renovation last winter) but I knew I wanted color and glitter. After thinking about a lot of things I could do, it occurred to me that I could fill it up with some of my favourite lyrics by miss @taylorswift 😍 As you can see I’m not an artist, I just draw whatever came to my mind in the moment. So this is the final result. And of course, I added some cute lights to always keep it shining 😂💘 @taylorswift thank you for sharing your music with the world, you certainly made my world a whole lot better 💗🌸 LATIN AMERICA LOVES YOU!!!!♥️♥️♥️
